Cherished and guarded by the French for their quality, in the 1960’s Dijon 828 and 777 Pinot Noir clones were allegedly wrapped in damp clothing and illegally smuggled from top burgundy vineyards into the US and have ever since been affectionately known as the ‘Suitcase’ clones. Renowned for their colour, flavour and structure, these clones were picked by winemaker Owen Elias for their potential to make still Pinot Noir and planted on the prime Foxridge site above Hush Heath Manor.
Part of our small parcel Winemaker Collection Series, with labels designed by renowned artist Lothar Gotz, Suitcase Pinot Noir 2018 showcases a new style of English Pinot Noir. Burgundian in style with a Ruby garnet colour, with flavours or plum, truffle and thyme with a long subterranean earthy finish – pure classic Pinot Noir.
Grape Varieties: 100% Pinot Noir
